Contact source default-field production migration

Context​

As part of the CDP engineering initiative to clean up source data, approximately 4,000 source fields in the CDP production database needed to be changed from custom fields to default fields. The source mapping is also relevant to the segmentation datamart being prepared with the BI/data team.

Notes​

  • Julio Maliangkay announced the planned production database migration and asked the team to raise any concerns.
  • Zhelia Alifa confirmed that source should be included in the segmentation datamart data model.
  • The contact table already provides mappings to the relevant contact fields, so the data team does not need to join field_properties to obtain the result.
  • Julio added the source information to make the data model more complete while leaving the data team free to choose whether to join the tables, provided the resulting data is correct.
  • Julio reported the production migration as completed at 6:02 PM. The migration report is in the comments on TF-3584.

Decisions / changes​

  • Approximately 4,000 production source fields were migrated from custom fields to default fields.
  • Add source to the segmentation datamart data model.
  • The data team may use the mappings from the contact table without joining field_properties; the implementation choice is flexible as long as the output is correct.
